About The Event
Sarhad, a Pune based organisation, is actively working in social, cultural and educational fields, for peace, development and welfare of violence effected children, widows and other people of Jammu & Kashmir for the past 28 years.
For the last 21 years ‘Sarhad’ has been organising ‘Kashmir Festivals’, in Pune. These Festivals have been inaugurated / attended by prominent personalities like Hon’ble N N Vohra, Hon’ble Lt. Gen. (Retd.) S. K. Sinha, Sh. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Late Sh. Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, Sh. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sh. Sushil Kumar Shinde, Sh. Hansraj Ahir, Sh. Nitin Gadkari, Sh. Muzaffar Hussain Beig, Sh. Haseeb Drabu, Sh. Amitabh Bachchan, Sh. Yash Chopra, Sh. Gulzar, Sh. Naushad Ali, Sh. Mahesh Bhat, Sh. Nida Fazili, Sh. Javaid Akhtar, Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, & many other dignitaries.
This year Sarhad has taken an initiative to organize a 3-days ‘Jammu & Kashmir International Film Festival’, in Pune, from 1st Mar. to 3rd Mar. 2019, in association with ‘Film & Television Institute of India’ (FTII), Pune and ‘National Film Archives of India’ (NFAI), Pune. This is going to be a regular yearly feature in Pune.
The City of Pune being hub of educational, intellectual, cultural and film studies in the country, is like a second home for the people of J&K. There is a strong emotional bond between the people of J&K and Maharashtra as whole, especially the city of Pune.
The festival is aimed at providing a platform to all the film makers from J&K, especially the young and amateur. The festival is also aimed at showcasing the culture, lifestyle, development and other stories from all regions of J&K, through the medium of films.
